frequently asked questions about roof insurance claims

Will filing a roof insurance claim raise my premiums?

That is a question best directed to your insurance agent since every policy and provider is different. What we can tell you is that if your roof has legitimate storm damage, you have every right to use the coverage you have been paying for. We recommend reviewing your policy and speaking with your agent before making that decision.

It varies depending on your insurance company and the extent of the damage. Some claims are processed in a matter of weeks while others can take longer, especially if there is any pushback from the adjuster. We stay involved throughout the entire process to keep things moving and make sure nothing stalls on our end.

This happens and it does not mean the conversation is over. Our team knows how to professionally present evidence of damage and push back when we believe a claim has been unfairly denied or undervalued. We have the photos, drone footage, and documentation to support our findings.

Your insurance company may request more than one estimate, but it is not always required. We recommend calling us first so we can inspect the damage and help you understand what you are dealing with before you start making calls.

Most policies do not cover damage caused by normal wear and tear, aging, or lack of maintenance. Coverage is generally reserved for sudden and accidental damage like wind, hail, or fallen trees. If you are unsure what your policy covers, your insurance agent is the best person to ask.

In most cases yes. Your insurance company does not get to pick who repairs or replaces your roof. Once your claim is approved, you are free to choose the contractor you trust.

If we believe the payout does not reflect the true cost of the work needed, we will work with your insurance company to dispute it and provide additional documentation to support a higher settlement. We will not leave you stuck with a gap you should not have to cover.

Most homeowners are responsible for their deductible, which is outlined in their policy. Beyond that, if your claim is approved and covers the full scope of work, your out of pocket costs should be limited to that deductible amount.
