NEW ROOFS
Common questions we get from homeowners looking to replace or install a new roof.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most standard residential roof replacements can be completed in a single day. We will never pull off more shingles than we can reinstall that same day, so your home is never left exposed overnight.
Will you replace the decking if it is rotten?
Yes. We always tear existing shingles down to the decking and replace any rotten decking wood to code. We will never install a second layer of shingles over an existing roof.
Should I call insurance or a roofer first if there is storm damage to my roof?
It depends on the type of damage. If you have a hole in your roof and water is getting into your home, call a roofer first to get a tarp up and protect your belongings. Make sure whoever puts the tarp up takes plenty of photos of the damage before covering it so your insurance company can see the full picture. If you have missing shingles from a windstorm or you suspect significant hail damage, go ahead and contact your insurance company to open a claim. If you are not sure whether you have damage worth claiming, call us first. We offer free inspections and can help you decide whether opening a claim makes sense before you do anything.
Does your company install metal roofs?
Resistant Roofing does not install metal roofs. In our experience, metal roofs are harder to warranty properly and are not as cost effective as quality dimensional shingles for most homeowners. We specialize in CertainTeed and GAF shingle installations, both of which offer excellent durability, long manufacturer warranties, and a wide range of colors and styles to choose from.
Does your company offer financing?
We do not offer financing directly through Resistant Roofing. However, we can send you a link to apply for financing through Acorn Finance. Acorn Finance will review your information and present you with the best financing options available to you. It is a simple process and a great option for homeowners who want to move forward without paying everything upfront.
roof repairs
Here are the questions we hear most from homeowners dealing with roof damage or wear.
How soon can you get someone out for a repair?
We move as quickly as possible to get repairs scheduled. Once you accept your estimate, we will get a crew out to your home as soon as our schedule allows.
Do you repair metal roofs?
Resistant Roofing does not repair or install metal roofs. If you have a metal roof that needs attention, we would be happy to refer you to companies in the area that we trust to do good work.
Will you repair my roof even though another company installed it?
Absolutely. We will provide repair services to any homeowner as long as their roof has standard dimensional shingles. It does not matter who originally installed it. If your roof needs work, we are glad to help.
How do I know if my roof needs to be repaired?
Some signs are easy to spot from the ground, like missing shingles, visible sagging, or granules collecting in your gutters. Other damage is not as obvious and requires a professional to catch it early. We recommend calling a roofer for an inspection any time you suspect something is off, especially after a major storm. Resistant Roofing offers free inspections and will give you an honest assessment of what your roof needs.
Will your crew inspect the whole roof or just the area I reported?
Our crews inspect the entire roof while they are out completing a repair. We want to make sure all issues are identified and taken care of, even ones you may not have noticed yet.
flat roofs
A few things homeowners typically want to know before moving forward with a flat roof.
How do I know if my flat roof needs to be replaced rather than repaired?
That is a question best answered by a professional who can get up there and take a look. Older flat roofs are prone to cracking and adhesion issues that go beyond what a simple repair can fix. Resistant Roofing offers free inspections and will give you an honest recommendation on whether a repair or full replacement makes more sense for your situation.
What material do you use for flat roofing?
We install CertainTeed Flintlastic, which is a self-adhering modified bitumen roofing system. It is known for its durability, its ability to handle harsh weather, and its resistance to water and heavy use.
Are there different color options for flat roofing?
Yes. Flintlastic comes in several color options including Heather Blend, Moire Black, and Weathered Wood, so you can choose a finish that fits the look of your home.
Do you offer flat roof repair services?
We only offer flat roof installation and replacement services. We do not repair existing flat roofs. If your flat roof has damage, give us a call and we can inspect it and let you know whether a full replacement is the right move.
Do you install flat roofs on commercial buildings?
We do not install flat roofing on commercial buildings, particularly those with HVAC units placed on the roof. Our flat roofing services are for residential properties only.
roof insurance claims
What most homeowners ask us when navigating storm damage and the insurance claim process.
How do I know if I have enough damage to file an insurance claim?
The best way to find out is to have a roofing professional come out and do a proper damage inspection. We offer free inspections and can help you understand what we found and whether it is worth filing a claim. Going into the process informed puts you in a much stronger position with your insurance company.
What types of roof damage are typically covered by insurance?
Most homeowner insurance policies cover wind damage, hail damage, and other sudden accidental damage such as fallen trees or debris. Damage from normal wear and tear or lack of maintenance is typically not covered. If you are unsure what your policy covers, we recommend reviewing it with your insurance agent before opening a claim.
Does it cost extra to have Resistant Roofing work with my insurance company?
No. There is no additional charge for us to work alongside your insurance company as long as you choose Resistant Roofing to complete your roof replacement. We will attend adjuster meetings, provide documentation, and advocate for fair compensation as part of our normal process.
What happens if my insurance company denies my claim?
Our sales professionals are experienced in dealing with insurance pushback and know how to professionally present evidence of damage. We will do everything in our power to support your claim, including providing detailed photos, drone footage, and documentation of all damage observed. We will not let your claim get pushed aside without a fight.
Will someone from Resistant Roofing be there when the insurance adjuster comes out?
Yes. We can send one of our sales professionals to meet with the insurance adjuster at your home so we can compare findings and make sure nothing gets overlooked.
